The week in rants, raves and randoms.

Rants:
  • The other afternoon I was pulling out of the underground garage at our apartment complex when out of nowhere this woman darts directly in front of my car. I slammed on the brakes and she froze in place on the sidewalk and we locked eyes in terror, and then we both made those awkward apology faces and went on like absolutely nothing had happened. Except that I might have pooped my pants a little. (Just kidding. Also, rest assured that if I ever do poop my pants, there's no way I'm going to tell you about it. Well...probably not.)
  • Wednesday I got a calcium pill lodged horizontally in my esophagus. I'm pretty sure it's still there. (Side note: After eight unsuccessful tries, it's apparent that I don't know how to spell "esophagus". Thanks, spell check.)
  • TWICE this week I've spent ten freaking minutes trying to open a jar, one of them that had already been opened previously. I'm starting a new muscle-woman workout routine ASAP. Can someone please advise me regarding what exercises will work out my jar-opening muscles? Scratch that...will someone first advise me as to what muscles open jars?
  • I spent all yesterday morning carefully rationing our last roll of toilet paper so I could make it until the afternoon before I was forced to make a trip to Target. What can I say? I live on the edge.
Raves:
  • I can NOT stop buying things that are flannel or {faux} furry or chalkboardy. It's a disease. A disease reeking havoc on our bank account. But I love it...and our fall-ready apartment loves it...and it's obvious that sleepy puppies love it, too.
  • I'm having a love affair...with Reeses pumpkins. They're back in my life after a brutal year of being apart, and dare I say that I love them even more than the last time we were together.
  • After my SEVENTH (seven...I can barely count that high) dentist visit in the past few months, I finally escaped their office without having to make a follow up appointment. Holla! Now that my Tuesday mornings are free again, I have to say I'm sort of going to miss that cramped little waiting room, the strange Korean elevator music and having to hold my mouth open for a solid hour while someone drills holes in my teeth. Oh, wait, NO I'M NOT. But boy, oh, boy I'm not looking forward to that bill :|
  • Thank you all so much for the flood of compliments on my new photography business. Have I mentioned that I like you guys? Because I do.
  • Speaking of which, I photographed one extra special baby bump session yesterday evening and I have another baby bump session scheduled for this Sunday night and a newborn session next week. My life...it's being swarmed by all things baby.
  • Right at this moment, we're embarking on our first California camping trip to Big Bear. I'm thrilled to explore the mountains, but I'm less than thrilled that the forecasted low for this weekend is, oh, somewhere in the thirties. Let's all hope I survive this trip. And let's all hope I don't get too grumpy so Ryan can survive the weekend, too.                                                  See you on Monday!

  2. I love your chalkboard! Your handwriting is perfect! Did you use a chalkboard pen for it? I've been wanting to try something like that. I have the same chalkboard deal from Ikea but in white!

  4. I'm obsessed with flannel too. I definitely need that blanket in my apartment. You are one brave soul to go camping in such frigid conditions.

  5. Me too with the dentist!! Seriously. I've had 2 fillings RE DONE, 3 new fillings, a root canal and a crown IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. I had a check up this week and I gout out of there with no bad news. Amazing!

  6. Living on a college campus, when people dart out in front of my car, I don't even make the apologetic face anymore....I should probably move soon. But flannel, fur and chalkboardy are all amazing things. I wish it got cold enough here to wear flannel and it wasn't just the air conditioner running.

  7. Oh my god I have the same problems with jars. When I lived at home my dad was my personal jar opener. Then I moved to college and my parents bought me an electric jar opener. Yup! It's a real contraption. And it works. Amazingly well.

My parents will also have a fully stocked fridge full of Reese's pumpkins when I go home to visit next week. Cheers to Reese's and jar openers!

  8. I needed this post today. The part about the toilet paper totally made me giggle, as here I sat thinking I was the only one with a meager few sheets left and paper towels on standby until I can make it to the store ;)

This is the part where you tell the pups how cute they are.
...but seriously, thank you so much for stopping by and for your wonderful comment! I read them all and try to respond as often as I can. We hope you visit again soon :)
