Memorial Day 2012.

This Memorial Day weekend we barbecued some delicious lunch on the beach

(and so did approximately 283761 other people. Seriously. It was packed).

But, of course, Memorial Day isn't about parades or picnics or BBQs. 

So, in remembrance of those who have died in our nation's service, one of my favorite poems:

Do not stand at my grave and weep,

I am not there;

I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,

I am the diamond glints on snow,

I am the sun on ripened grain,

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circling flight.

I am the soft star-shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,

I am not there; I did not die.
