The week in rants, raves and randoms.

What I wore: Top, Old Navy. Shorts, Korner Kloest boutique. Shoes, DIY (originally from Target).
Rants:
  • My email has been blowing up with awesome blog comment notifications (that's not what I'm ranting about! I like that part). So, I thought, "You know, I'm just going to make a whole new account, just for blogging". Easier said than done. I'm still in the process of switching over all my stuff so if it looks like I stopped reading your blog, I swear, it's just that I'm technologically incompetent. I'm workin' on it, yo.
  • I have a pimple under my eye, and if I look down, like at the computer or at a book or at my delicious breakfast, I can just barely see it in my peripheral vision and it's driving me INSANE.
Raves:
  • OUR TAX REFUND HAS ARRIVED! I told Ryan I'm going on a huge shopping spree with it. He thinks I'm joking. Muhahaha.
  • In case you missed yesterday's post, I've been accepted into the MFA Creative Writing program at Antioch University-Los Angeles! I'm SO excited to be starting graduate school.
  • And speaking of yesterday's post...thank you all so much for your congratulations and your encouragement! Seriously. I appreciate it more than you know.
  • This week was a week full of gorgeous days. I got my tan burn on by the pool several afternoons this week and now I'm applying aloe vera like crazy in the hopes that this pinkness will turn into a lovely, glowing tan, instead of peeling off my body. Fingers crossed.
  • Ryan's mom was moved out of the rehabilitation center and back home one week ago and she's doing so well! I got to Skype with her the other day (post-workout, so I looked really pretty) and she looked amazing. She's been getting out and about with her walker and the injury on her arm is healing well. And she was able to visit the cemetery for the first time. Still healing, physically and emotionally, but making excellent progress.
Random:
  • When I was in elementary school, I used to experience these frequent, debilitating chest pains. They would strike suddenly (and randomly) and it felt like someone was stabbing me in the side of my chest, rendering me unable to move or breathe very easily for a minute or two. I was pretty positive I was dying. They stopped occurring so often, but occasionally it still happens to me (and, of course, now that I'm an adult, every time it happens I think "Oh my God, I'm having a heart attack. I'm old now and I'm having a heart attack"). A week ago, I was browsing Reddit and I found out what it is! It's called precordial catch syndrome and apparently it afflicts a lot of people. And supposedly it doesn't mean anything bad at all. So you'll be relieved to know that I'm not dying after all.

  27. ahh Haha, lovin' it. So glad I found this blog. I crave weird, funny writers - and my dear, you fit the bill.

That pimple peripheral problem is THE WORST. I get that with dry skin flakes. Annnnooyyingg.

And speaking to your last post regarding the future and the fears it incites, you're not alone. Truly, I think that's the most important thing to keep in mind. No matter how many people seem like they've got it together, it's fair to assume that the good majority of them are just as frightened as you.

I would be a member of that majority.

And from what I see here, you obviously have talents that you're aware of. Just do what makes you happy. That's what my dad always says (he's a writer like you).

Money does suck, though. A lot.

  31. I'm glad that you aren't dying...haha. I was thinking about going back for my MFA. I think that would be so fabuloso! For your pimple have you tried Benzoyl Peroxide (sp?) I use it all over my face to keep it from being oily and I also use it as a spot treatment. Love the stuff!
