Balboa Island (and outfit outtakes).

This weekend was a whirlwind.
We spent all Saturday afternoon lounging at the beach
(Remember how I said I neglected my backside and burnt my chest last weekend? Well, I was determined NOT to have a pasty-white back this time around. I toughed it out on my stomach a good chunk of the day and guess how I was rewarded?
With a sun burn on my calves, hamstrings,
and the backs of my knees and a big fat white spot on my back
where my swim suit tie was. I am a moron.)
Today we drove south to hang out in the Orange County community of Newport Beach.
We rode the ferry across to Balboa Island and I was as giddy as a small child when I found out CARS went on this ferry to ride across the water, like they were driving on the ocean!
Being on the ferry also served as a reminder that
moving over bodies of water gives me two strange sensations:
1) The feeling that I'm about to pass out, and
2) The intense urge to throw something, like my shoe or purse, overboard.
Thankfully, neither of these things happened.
We walked around, checked out the fun little shops, bought up some salt water taffy
(don't worry, Mom, I'll keep it away from my fake teeth),
and looked at the pretty boats and houses.
Oh, yes, and there were outfit photo outtakes.
When Ryan has ahold of the camera, he doesn't like to relinquish creative control.
(And by that, I mean he likes to keep taking awkward pictures
after I start walking toward him asking for the camera back).
I'm making that face on purpose. I promise.
What I wore: Shirt, PacSun. Shorts, AE. Vest, JCPenney. Shoes, gift.

  1. Oh my gosh! This makes me so happy!!!! Babloa Island was one of the first places I took Justin during his first visit to California :) He absolutely loved it. We rode bikes along the beach all day! I actually have an uncle who lives out there and is part of the "Balboa Boaters Club" haha, he's such a goofball. Anyway, you and your guy have got to go back during Christmas time, okay! The houses in the canals are all lit up with Christmas lights, and it's so romantic and pretty! It's tradition for my family to walk around down there at least once to see the lights! :) Have a good week, dear!

  31. Gorgeous outfits! Balboa Island looks really cool. I had to laugh a little bit when you said Cars go on ferries. All of our ferries up here in Washington are for cars and pretty much no one walks on. I am glad to know I am not the only one who has an urge to throw something overboard too! :)
